(May 8, 2008, Oslo, Norway) Petroleum Geo-Services ASA today announced its unaudited first quarter 2008 results under IFRS. (May 5, 2008, Oslo, Norway) Petroleum Geo-Services ASA has been awarded by Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. a contract to undertake the largest High Density 4D (HD4D) marine seismic survey campaign ever in the industry, based on a tendered contract value of USD 251 million. President & CEO Jon Erik Reinhardsen in PGS states in a comment "This contract is an important strategic milestone to PGS, as we are providing the most sophisticated technology in the business, with the newest vessel in the industry, in the area where the world's most significant recent discovery is made."
(March 12, 2008) PGS launched today the newest in the fleet with the Ramform Sovereign being delivered from Aker Yards Langsten, and christened in Ålesund, Norway. The new vessel is 16 meters longer than the previous Ramforms with significantly higher acquisition and transit speed, 25 percent longer endurance, and 60 percent higher production capacity compared to the existing Ramform fleet.
