PGS have been selected by Sonangol to promote relinquished areas in Blocks 17 & 18, offshore Angola, Lower Congo Basin. PGS will market and license the 3D data ahead of the upcoming License Round. Blocks 17 and 18 are two of the ‘golden’ Blocks offshore Angola with a succession of world class oil field discoveries including Girassol, Dahlia, Rosa and Plutonio. The relinquished areas consist of over 7,500 sq. km of undrilled potential, the majority of which is covered by 3D data. Girassol came on-stream in 2001 and reached its production plateau of 200,000 bopd in 2002 with eight production wells.
