PGS develops EM technology for offshore applications. In addition, we are investing in enhanced 3D modeling and inversion techniques, anisotropic inversion and EM migration to provide maximum value to our clients from this exciting new development in EM technology.
The first generation PGS acquisition system employed an Ocean Bottom Cable and a specially designed electric source for stationary ocean bottom deployment. This technology was successfully deployed in the detection and delineation hydrocarbon accumulations based on resistivity on a number of surveys in ~100m water depth.
PGS EM Evolves
Since then our focus has moved on. Our work on EM noise removal has convinced us that an effective towed EM streamer and source system is realizable.
We believe that the efficiency of such a system will be revolutionary and recent tests indicate that a commercial-scale system is achievable.
