Full 3-D Prestack Depth Migration
AGS's proprietary full 3-D prestack depth migration algorithm is akin to the Beam method with some wave equations aspects. It has been demonstrated in quantitative 2-D tests to be substantially superior to the Kirchhoff method. In deep, high noise environments such as near salt and subsalt prospects, our approach has substantial advantages in both quality and turnaround time over other methods such as the Kirchhoff, pure Gaussian Beam, and fk wave equations methods.
Full 3-D Depth-Based Tomography
AGS's full 3-D depth-based tomography utilizes residual moveout picked on depth gathers to determine updates in slowness in a depth model on a regular grid. The conjugate gradient method is employed to solve the derivative matrix, which is computed from full 3-D ray tracing. The derivative matrix may be preconditioned using one or more of several facilities that compensate for noisy and missing data, such as suppression of low eigenvalues and discrimination against solutions that have large spatial derivatives. AGS's velocity extraction tool has shown itself to be stable, accurate and rapidly converging.
