Marine

PGS acquires, processes, markets and sells high quality seismic data worldwide. Oil and gas companies use this data to explore for hydrocarbon accumulations, to develop new oil and gas fields, and to manage those fields in production.

The marine division of PGS maintains a fleet of highly advanced seismic vessels, supported by a global data processing network.  PGS strives for efficient, safe operations with minimum impact upon the environment. PGS encourages innovation in technology and business through performance motivated staff.

Our goal is to become the clearly recognized market leader in marine seismic through:

  • Operating the world’s most advanced streamer fleet
  • Building and maintaining a library of high quality multi-client data from all the world's major hydrocarbon basins
  • Delivering unrivalled High-Density 3D (HD3D) project efficiency, safety, turnaround, and quality
  • Providing cutting edge capabilities in data processing distributed on a global basis  utilizing supercomputers and Linux clusters for marine, land and transition zone seismic data
  • A Geoscience & Engineering division that continues to ensure operational efficiency and to develop leading-edge seismic modelling, processing, visualization, and engineering technologies

Highlights

Busy North Sea Season

Apr 11, 2007 PGS will employ four seismic vessels in the North Sea season 2007. The six streamer seismic vessel Atlantic Explorer has started acquiring seismic in the North Sea as the first PGS vessel to start operating in the area for this year’s summer season. In a global strong seismic market, PGS will use four seismic vessels in the North Sea this year, compared to five seismic vessels in 2006. Read more

Largest Moving Object on Earth

Mar 26, 2007 The ambitious subsalt Wide Azimuth imaging project in the Gulf of Mexico, known as Crystal, represents an impressive set of record-breaking features and accomplishments. It should come as no surprise that what is needed to accomplish the challenging geophysical objectives is the most massive recording effort to date in the geophysical industry. Read more
