Data Processing Research

PGS complements the industry-leading efficiencies of its acquisition vessels and crews with an extensive global network of seismic data processing centres and installations.  Our seismic data processing operations are continuously being upgraded to stay abreast of the massive data volumes necessary for 3D exploration today.

PGS invests significantly in seismic processing R&D. The R&D work is organized in a global group called Seismic Processing Technology, organized under PGS Technology. The group works in close relationship with the data processing groups to cover future needs for processing technology, as well as meeting shorter term needs for technology improvements.

Seismic Processing Technology is responsible for development and maintenance of PGS proprietary processing software technology. The PGS seismic processing package is called CubeManager^TM.

The main focus areas for the Seismic Processing Technology group are:

• Software System development and maintenance
• CubeManager^TM maintenance and support
• Seismic processing algorithm R&D

The group has delivered state-of-the-art processing algorithms over recent years. In particular, we mention:

• Leading-edge multiple removal technology, including 3D SRME
• Strong interactive velocity analysis tools, tVAT
• State-of-the-art wave equation migration pre-stack depth (PSDM) algorithms
• Leading portfolio in Kirchhoff prestack time (PSTM) and depth (PSDM) migration
