Processing
PGS complements the industry-leading efficiencies of its acquisition vessels and crews with an extensive global network of seismic data processing centres and installations. Our seismic data processing operations are continuously being upgraded to stay abreast of the massive data volumes necessary for 3D exploration today.

PGS develops several technologies to provide industry leading efficiencies in data processing:
At all times, the PGS focus is upon "True 3D" processing products and solutions. PGS led the world in developing 3D seismic from an unaccepted and expensive dream in the early 1990s to be the universally affordable and powerful exploration and production solution that it is today. It should be no surprise then that PGS is now responsible for several technology innovations in "true" 3D seismic noise suppression, 3D multiple removal (e.g. 3D SRME), 3D velocity model building, 3D anisotropic pre-stack time and depth migration, 3D wave equation depth migration, 3D multi-component data processing, 3D data visualization, and time-lapse 3D (4D) seismic monitoring. Complemented by a concerted investment in "true amplitude" processing capabilities for all algorithms, PGS provides the best data platforms for any AVO or reservoir characterisation studies.
It must also be noted that pre-survey planning can play an important role in optimizing the success and impact of any data processing project. Beginning with a full description and analysis of the survey challenges and expectations, survey planning will devise a 3D acquisition and processing plan that is seamlessly integrated, identifying the optimum technology solutions for each specific exploration or production problem. No better example of this strategy exists than the PGS HD3D product. By combining a tailored sampling and illumination strategy during acquisition, PGS will enable the optimal solution to all the major challenges to seismic exploration and production:
Removal of all three dimensional (3D) noise and multiples will have the greatest chance of success
The three dimension variations in seismic velocities and seismic velocity anisotropy can be fully described for any seismic experiment (PP streamer, PP and PS seafloor, and PP and PS land)
Pre-stack migration will deliver the most focussed, accurate, and artifact-free image of the subsurface geology
That seismic image will in turn provide the most coherent and noise-free platform for all successive investigations, including reservoir characterization and time-lapse 4D reservoir monitoring
PGS develops these processing technologies by maintaining R&D centers in all major global locations, thereby harnessing the experiences and insights of academic consortia, industry projects, and region-specific problems and solutions.
