holoSeis™

holoSeisTM is a Virtual Reality system developed by PGS with the purpose of enhancing the quality of seismic data and products delivered to our clients. holoSeisTM provides the latest technology in stereographic volume visualization. The high-end visualization system features a unique interactive user interface and handles large data volumes. PGS has developed holoSeisTM to run without restriction on a variety of platforms, including desktop PC and Macintosh notebook computers. This freedom enables every PGS employee to have potential access to immersive visualization technology on their own desk or wherever they are travelling. holoSeisTM has been developed to complement any activity - pre-survey planning and modeling, acquisition QC, processing QC, interpretation or production monitoring and well planning.
Multi-Client Library Visualization
Use holoSeisTM to view our large worldwide Multi-Client data base. holoSeisTM can be used to view large regional datasets or to analyze smaller data volumes in more detail.
Acquisition QC

holoSeisTM can be used in acquisition QC. A model of the subsurface is imported into the system. Navigation data from an ongoing survey is transferred onshore via a satellite link, and several acquisition QC attributes can be generated based on navigation data and the geological model. holoSeisTM is a collaborative environment, and the client can make decisions together with PGS based on these attributes.
Model Building
Model building is used throughout the entire seismic workflow - from pre-survey planning to acquisition through to processing and interpretation.
Extensive autotracking features can be used to automatically define and edit horizons within holoSeisTM. The models can be used for horizon based acquisition QC in holoSeisTM, for Pre-Stack Depth Migration projects, or true 3D interpretation. Horizon definition can be performed very efficiently in this system and subsequently exported to a traditional workstation interpretation system.
Data Processing QC
holoSeisTM enables the processor to visualize the data throughout the entire workflow. holoSeisTM is tightly linked to the PGS processing package, and several datasets can be visualized simultaneously. This is useful in a parameter decision phase, and the collaborative environment makes decision making fast and accurate. Any type of data can be visualized in holoSeisTM, including field data gathers, data volumes, seismic attribute volumes, model horizons, well log data, well trajectories, velocity semblances and cubes, the list is endless.
Well Planning
In addition to the basic well path display, one can also easily edit well trajectories in holoSeisTM. The functionality is basic, but it gives the users the possibility to discuss wells and their future paths. The results can be saved and exported to other more sophisticated well planning packages that lack the advanced visualization capabilities of holoSeisTM. Well logs can easily be imported and visualized in holoSeisTM.
