Australian Opportunities – 2016 Offshore Petroleum Acreage release
PGS data packages tailored to the 2016 acreage release are now available. These comprise 2D and PGS MegaSurvey data over many of the blocks, with much of the 2D data acquired using GeoStreamer® technology for uncompromised bandwidth.
PGS has good coverage over the entire proposed acreage for the 2016 release, with modern seismic datasets extending from the southern margin of the Carnarvon Basin to the eastern margin of the Arafura Basin. The North West Shelf is a world-class gas province with oily sweet spots.
The NWS Australia MC2D seismic lines tie all key wells with an interpretation of key regional events and provide a consistent phase and amplitude dataset. This allows the explorationist to assess the value of new acreage in the context of petroleum systems whose distribution is controlled by the complex tectonic history of the region.
Allied to the MC2D datasets are further MC3D MegaSurvey datasets: the Carnarvon MegaSurvey (50 000 sq.km) and the Vulcan MegaSurvey (18 500 sq. km). These datasets are fully interpreted and can be accessed as 'ready to go' projects, allowing for rapid and effective reconnaissance in these areas.PGS MultiClient coverage and location of regional-scale seismic section
