NWS Australia MC2D – Taking the Regional View

The NWS Australia MC2D dataset extends from the Northern Carnarvon Basin to the Bonaparte Basin, covering the length of the North West Shelf. The NWS Australia MC2D also gives excellent coverage of the North Carnarvon Basin & Exmouth Plateau areas, which form a large part of the 2016 Offshore Petroleum Acreage release.

PGS has 32 800 line kms of fully matched modern long offset seismic data (mostly GeoStreamer) with all major horizons fully interpreted, and tying to the key wells of the Australian North West Shelf geological province. This seismic dataset allows explorationists to confidently map out prolific sequences in both familiar areas, as well as those which are underexplored.

PGS is now developing the Access Westralia Study, derived from the New Dawn MC2D. This is integrated, high-value study better delineates the deep structures underpinning the North West Shelf area. This gives new insights into the distribution of rift and post-rift deposits which control the potential of the NWS margin’s petroleum systems.
