New Cyprus potential on GeoStreamer data
The Republic of Cyprus forthcoming 3rd Licensing Round will be announced soon. PGS is the sole provider of MultiClient seismic offshore Cyprus. Our data offer essential insight in the Herodotus/Levant Basin, the Eratosthenes Continental Block and geological development in the eastern Mediterranean.
Blocks 10, 11 and 12 are transversed by this east-west GeoStreamer 2D PSTM stack.
On the western part of the Levant Basin, the Aphrodite discovery is seen as amplitude brightening on a structure in the Base Miocene. Then the southern extent of the Eratosthenes Continental Block (ECB), the southern tail of a Cenozoic basin and two carbonate build-up structures which are most likely satellite formations from the ECB.
The 30Tcf Zohr gas discovery has created a new play, based on the thick sequence of shallow-water carbonates that have been deposited on the isolated ECB structure.
The two similar carbonate structures on the seismic line are satellites of considerable size. Both are untested and provide excellent potential to further develop the newborn carbonate play into Cyprus.
