Hire Charge:
The cost to rent the Apartment in Alicante is NOK 2.000,- per week, and will be deducted from the salary – for the PGS employees. For the Wilhelmsen employees, they will have to pay the hire charge one month ahead of their stay, directly to PGS.
Cancellation:
Anyone who has been awarded the apartment is obliged to inform Kari kari.norvik.bakken@pgs.com as soon as possible (4 weeks beforehand at the latest), if he/she does not wish to /cannot use the apartment. The apartment is awarded on an individual basis and is non-transferable!!!
Penalty fee for late cancellation:
Anyone canceling the apartment less than 4 weeks prior to the hire period must pay a
NOK 500 in cancelation fee, unless the apartment is finally used by someone else. Exceptions to this rule are cancellations due to illness or unavoidable work commitments. These should be properly documented in an email to Kari.
When the apartment suddenly become vacant due to a cancellation, an email is sent out to the Party Chiefs (for the notice board on the vessels) and a deadline is set to apply for the Apartment. If several employees apply, a “mini-lottery” is carried out if all applicants are on equal terms. Any employees, who have been awarded the apartment in the current year, would not be included in the lottery, if others have applied and have not been awarded the apartment in the relevant period.
Employees being awarded the apartment on a last minute cancellation basis will not lose any eligible priority, in the following year’s main lottery.
Attached you will find the application form for the apartment lottery for the period of 2nd May to 26th September 2020.
The draw will apply to the above mentioned period. Each week will be drawn separately. Each applicant may apply for up to 2 weeks, in order of preference, so that the first name drawn will be awarded his or her first preference. If the second name drawn also has that week as first preference, he or she will be awarded the second preference, and so on. In this way we hope to be as fair as possible to all employees, while trying to keep the system as simple as possible.
If cancellations occur at a later date, the weeks in question will be advertised by email.
The renting period is from Saturday to Saturday
(Week 19 is for example Saturday 2nd May – Saturday 9th May) and the Apartment can be rented only by PGS offshore Field crew and Field Engineers, who has been employed by PGS for at least 1 year. It can also be rented by officers employed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management. Other rules regarding the hire of the apartment will be sent to those who “win” a week. If we suddenly get a cancellation, we will send out an e-mail, and then all offshore Field crew can apply for the vacant week, including trainees.
Information about the apartment:
It takes approximately 20 minutes by car, from the airport in Alicante to the resort. There is a small parking area just outside the flat alt. park on the street a few meters away. See road directions further below.
The common pool area is around 75 meter from the flat. Opening hours: 9-15 and 17-21.
The beach is situated approx. 1.5 km away. There is plenty of parking areas close to the beach, but it can be wise to be early on Sundays. Please note that the resort area is on a steep mountain area. If you don’t want to rent a car, there is a bus line passing the beach to and from Gran Alacant.
There is a grocery store (Unide Market, Ave. Escandinavia 2) and several restaurants in walking distance. Further grocery stores/restaurants can be found at Gran Alacant Centro Comercial, just by exit/entry to/from road N-332. It is a 3 bedroom apartment housing 6 beds. One master bedroom with king size bed with attached bathroom. 2 rooms with 2 single beds each. The floor has also one bathroom for the two bedrooms.
The master bedroom and one of the smaller bedrooms are equipped with air-condition, all three bedrooms with ceiling fan.
The estate agency provides bed sheets, one facial towel and one shower towel / person / week.
There is an additional bathroom with shower on the ground floor.
The ground level is a combined living room / dining area. This is also equipped with air-condition and a ceiling fan.
The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and washing machine.
There is a lovely market every Monday and Saturday morning in Santa Pola, approx. 7 km south of Gran Alacant. The old fortress in Alicante can also be worth a visit.
Pets are NOT allowed at the resort!

Check in/out:
In the period 2nd May - 26th July and 17th August – 26th September, you can check in every day (not on Sundays), in the opening hours of the reception.
In the period from 27th July to 16th August, you can only check in on Saturdays between 16.00 and 19.00 hrs.

Deadline
Deadline for applications for this draw is 1200 hrs Wednesday 4th December 2019. The draw will take place as soon as possible, after the deadline. The Apartment winner will be notified by email.
If some weeks are still vacant after the above draw, there will be a second draw for the remaining weeks. This will be announced at a later point in time.
