The Congo River deposited a vast quantity of sediments in the Lower Congo Basin throughout the Tertiary. Several large discoveries have been made in the Oligo-Miocene turbidites deposited from NE-SW channels that extend over the area.
A range of structural and stratigraphic features associated with dynamic salt movement are imaged in this dataset. Features include salt walls, diapirs and mini basins formed by salt withdrawal. Turbidite and channel systems migrate around and over these salt features, forming potential reservoirs.
