The aim of the survey is to understand the prolific petroleum system in the Australian waters and how this can extend towards Indonesia. The survey ties PGS’ NWS Australia MC2D surveys, and covers a vast area from Semai to the Timor/Tanimbar Trough and Banda Arc/Timor Accretionary Prism.
This GeoStreamer survey makes a significant contribution to revealing the hydrocarbon prospectivity of a highly prospective but mostly under-explored region. The main play is the Jurassic sandstones, with secondary objectives in Triassic and Permian, further north the New Guinea Limestones.
The survey has been acquired using long offset GeoStreamer with 10 sec recording, which provides considerable detail at the reservoir intervals while providing an image of the older basins not previously imaged on vintage seismic.
