The survey was acquired as part of Brunei’s first deep water license round in 2001. The Brunei MultiClient 3D survey is a co-operative project between PGS and the Brunei Government over what is now known as the commercial arrangement deep-water area of Brunei.
The dataset has confirmed the presence of a large number of elongated anticlines in water depths greater than 1 000 m. These structures appear to have been formed as toe-thrust anticlines, related to growth faulting, influenced by depositional loading along the shelf margin.
AVO analyses has revealed the presence of strong amplitude anomalies over some of the highs, velocity “sags”, as well as possible DHI’s (“flatspot”), which indicate the presence of hydrocarbons in the area.
