The survey was designed to image below the traditional Tertiary Miocene Carbonates and to provide explorers with a regional overview of the half graben features where oil has been found at the Arung and Gabus sequences. the lines tie a number of the existing wells in the area.
The Basin is a Tertiary basin consisting of an Oligocene to Recent clastic and carbonate sequence fill, which onlap the Natuna arch. The basin underwent extension during the Eocene to Early Miocene and this opened northeast southwest grabens that were infilled with typical Gabus syn-rift sequences .
Long offset data deep recording provides an understanding of the basin development, with the recent infill in the north covering potential acquifers for the CO2.
