The survey ties wells and existing 2D seismic grid in the inboard area. The outboard part of Phu Khanh Basin represents one of the last unexplored frontier areas around the South China Sea margin, and the MC2D program represents a unique opportunity to get insight into this vast area.
Miocene carbonates, as well as Late Oligocene-Middle Miocene clastics represent the main play. Numerous Syn-Rift packages are present that are potentially filled with lacustrine/shallow marine source rocks. Upper-Miocene - Early Pliocene basin floor fans are also an exploration target.
Phase I was acquired towing an 8 km streamer and recording to 9 seconds. Gravity and magnetic data was recorded on a subset. In 2009, PGS acquired the latest phase of the survey using a 10 km GeoStreamer, totaling 1,831 line km of infill lines within the survey area.
