Available legacy data in shallow areas and with well ties have been reprocessed and matched to the PGS acquisition. The resulting data grid provides full understanding of Greece’s offshore geological setting.
The petroleum system is demonstrated by the Katakolon oil discovery and discoveries in Albania and Italy. Identified traps are sub-thrusts, salt related and stratigraphic. The source rocks include Triassic evaporates and Jurassic-Cretaceous shales. Reservoirs consist of clastic and carbonate strata.
New imaging technology offers an improved version of vintage data sets. The new Pre-stack time migration forms part of the Greece MegaProject, giving the an updated understanding of the hydrocarbon potential of offshore Greece.
