This regional survey tracks the Corona Ridge trend to the north of the Faroe-Shetland Basin, taking in Paleocene and Mesozoic plays and defining the extent of volcanism. Providing coverage which links the Faroe-Shetland Basin with the Norwegian Sea, this is a great regional exploration dataset.
A major Cretaceous-Paleogene rift event was followed by extensive uppermost Paleocene volcanism. The main prospectivity relates to 3- and 4-way dip closures of the Top Paleocene reflector and to sub-volcanic targets in structural closures formed during an Eocene-Miocene inversion.
2D GeoStreamer is an excellent tool to further explore the hydrocarbon potential of this frontier area. Increased bandwidth allows for the clear delineation of pre- and post-basaltic structural and stratigraphic closures, as well as defining Mesozoic fault blocks in the Møre Basin.
