Presalt Carcará trend: one of the most important recent discoveries in the Aptian of Santos Basin

The hydrocarbon plays within the BMS-50/52 survey area are: a. Postsalt: Albian limestones; Upper Cretaceous to Lower Tertiary turbidites in subtle traps; b. Rift/Pre-rift sandstones and basalts in the central-western area and c. Sag/Rift Aptian presalt microbial limestones.
The BM-S-50/52 Ph. II 3D seismic survey is on trend and/or adjacent to the most prolific fields and discoveries in the northern Santos Basin, including Merluza, Lagosta, Cedro, Mexilhao, SPS-36, and ENI-004. This is a light oil to condensate/gas province which enjoys substantial industry attention.
BM-S-50/52 Phase II, a dual-sensor GeoStreamer PSDM volume. High-quality seismic data together with the better understanding of the petroleum systems in the area will provide important input for the unitization of Carcará and of any other future discoveries that may straddle block boundaries.
