SWIM Imaging and GeoStreamer

In SWIM, the separated wavefields are used as source and receiver wavefields and must be sampled and recorded reliably during acquisition.

The quality of the SWIM image depends on:

  • Streamer coverage
  • Receiver density
  • Source-receiver distribution geometry
  • Acquisition shooting direction
  • Target depth
  • Subsurface dip
  • Subsurface acoustic impedance

The maximum offset determines both the source and receiver wavefield coverage. Broader and denser streamer coverage produces more complete source and receiver wavefields and improves SWIM image quality.
