Survey Design and Modeling
Detailed pre-survey modeling is essential to efficient and successful marine seismic operations. Modern acquisition geometries are increasingly sophisticated. These may involve the simultaneous use of several vessels and a great variety of towed, stationary and fixed receiver arrays.
Explicit synergies exist between the three key seismic stages of acquisition, processing, and interpretation.
Using a diverse range of synthetic modeling and elastic wavefield simulation techniques in pre-survey planning, evaluation, and design we interrogate the qualitative and quantitative implications of comparative acquisition geometries and survey strategies. Reprocessing and analysis of real data are undertaken wherever possible, as this benefits all stages of pre-survey design.
