Our recently reprocessed PSDM GeoStreamer PURE survey opens the sand injectite play in the mature Viking Graben area for near-field exploration.

The geometries of the sand injectites and their seismic characteristics are well defined in our Viking Graben dataset. On one example, connected saucer shapes with wing-like reflectors are visible, along with a differential compaction mounding at Top Balder. This feature shows a clear seismic amplitude brightening with angle, and has been de-risked as a sand body with a high likelihood of being hydrocarbon filled.

About the seminar:
The purpose of the half-day seminar in the series Hydrocarbon Habitats is to shed light on a play model within the Tertiary, and possibly also older formations that may have an interesting upside potential on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. We cover several subjects in the seminar, such as analogues, reservoir characteristics, geometry, seismic identification and possible extension of the play into other areas of the NCS than the Balder/Volund areas.
