Didier Lecerf explains how Full Wavefield Migration enables a radical reduction in the density of OBN acquisition. An original ‘donuts’ OBN survey design is proposed for optimizing velocity model building using refracted/diving waves (FWI) and imaging with Full Wavefield Migration. The methodology has been assessed using real OBN dataset from deep water West Africa, and is a research collaboration between Total and PGS.
