The South Makassar MultiClient survey will bring new insight to help assess target reservoirs and play types such as exist in nearby fields. The deep penetration of GeoStreamer data will also highlight the potential for deeper plays in the South Makassar Basin. In particular, the distribution of the early syn-rift (a potential source rock), and the basement definition are expected to be much improved.
Acquisition of this project, the third in a series of new surveys supporting exploration offshore Indonesia, will commence mid-July 2018. It uses PGS Apollo, a modern high capacity vessel equipped with multisensor GeoStreamer technology. GeoStreamer delivers unmatched broadband seismic data with a greater signal to noise ratio, improved resolution of seismic events and imaging of structure, and better depth penetration.
GeoStreamer achieves true broadband seismic because of its multisensor system. The combination of hydrophone and velocity sensor recordings allows precise receiver deghosting via a method of wavefield separation that separates the total recorded wavefield into its up-going and down-going components.
Wavefield separation delivers deghosted field data right at the acquisition stage. The prestack characteristics (amplitude and phase) are preserved, ensuring accurate and robust prestack analysis of the seismic data, such as AVO, inversion, and quantitative interpretation. This kind of prestack analysis will be an essential component of prospect delineation and development in South Makassar.
PGS delivers high-quality MC3D seismic data using the latest technologies at a competitive market cost. For improved acquisition efficiency, a triple source configuration will be deployed. Shot overlap will be mitigated using a proactive approach of randomized shot firing times in the acquisition, followed by an iterative inversion in the deblending.
The data will be available for viewing in Q2 2019.
