About the Speaker
Ivan Vasconcelos is originally Brazilian, with a PhD in geophysics from Colorado School of Mines. He joined the seismic industry as a research geophysicist with ION in 2007, before moving to Schlumberger Gould Research in Cambridge first as senior then principal researcher. Since 2016 he has been an assistant professor at Utrecht University.
His research interests revolve around wave and diffusion phenomena, inverse problems and imaging science: in particular seismic imaging, but also radar imaging for Earth and planetary studies, material science in imaging problems, and connections between geophysical and medical imaging.
