APA 2021 Awards – We’ve Got You Covered

With 230 000 sq. km of GeoStreamer data for Norway, PGS has coverage on most of the 53 APA 2021 production license awards, which include North Sea, Norwegian Sea, and Barents Sea areas.

On 18 January, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) awarded 53 new production licenses to 28 companies: 28 in the North Sea, 20 in the Norwegian Sea and five in the Barents Sea. Seventeen of the awards are additional acreage to existing production licenses. This is evidence of a continued appetite for exploration in the NCS with a strong focus on areas close to existing fields and infrastructure.

Make Better Decisions

Fast access to MultiClient data enables operators to make better decisions on key areas of the Norwegian Continental Shelf. GeoStreamer true broadband seismic data can help to develop established plays and supports the generation of new ideas. After several decades of extensive exploration, development and production, this is a mature area where high-quality seismic datasets enable detailed evaluations and confident risk analyses.

“APA is an important tool for continued production of assets from the NCS. In 2020, production statistics showed that most successful wells in the region had GeoStreamer coverage. Data fidelity can be improved by reprocessing and adding broadband content into merged datasets, while adding a new azimuth with GeoStreamer technology can significantly boost illumination. We wish all the successful bidders success in their awarded areas, and look forward to supporting them with reliable subsurface data,” says Sonia Pereira, VP Sales for Europe at PGS.

New GeoStreamer acquisition is planned on the NCS in 2022, including MultiClient and contract GeoStreamer X datasets. Imaging, using the latest technology and tailored workflows, will help companies uncover new potential and derisk infrastructure lead exploration on mature NCS areas.

In addition to the seismic coverage of APA license areas, PGS also offers rock physics properties related to these seismic datasets in its rockAVO atlases.
